Is AI practical yet for founders?
All this talk of AI killing all our jobs, ruining our relationships, filling us with existential dread, or making our lives easier (depending on your perspective) begs the question that interests me the most: what practical tasks are actual entrepreneurs using tools like ChatGPT, Stable Diffusion or others? Are they even using them at all? The question's been making the rounds in several founder communities in the area. Turns out: yep they are! Here are 6 ways local founders are using these tools on a regular basis:
Market Research: Next time you need to do some quick market research for a deck, grant application, or to exercise that hunch, try heading over to ChatGPT and asking it a question about market size or trends. It will respond with a surprisingly readable output with all the sources for you to explore.
Unit testing for code: Asking ChatGPT to develop a Cucumber-based test for a project can save you quite a bit of time, and if you remember it's a jumping off point and not a one-stop solution, it's pretty useful. Here's a good summary of how to get started.
Summarising your content, especially podcast transcripts: Whether it's your content that you're looking to repurpose or if you just want a digest of something you've seen or listened to elsewhere, ChatGPT can summarise content in a fast and helpful way.
SEO-friendly landing pages: Want to test a bunch of different landing pages? ChatGPT is used by multiple founders to help write variations of their copy that are designed to rank on Google.
Analysis of feedback and data: From customer surveys, lists of potential investors, and inputting raw data from public surveys to pull out additional information, founders are using ChatGPT to summarise and extract meaningful insights instantly.
Blog post images and prototyping: Using imagery and text for developing quick prototypes to show a proof of concept is a great way to get that idea out and into the world, and founders are using both ChatGPT and Stable Diffusion to make their workloads more effective.
As with all of these, remember that these other tools are only a jumping off point. Don't trust it with anything mission critical...yet. And don't get me started on all the moral grey areas. Might be one for another day.
What are we missing? Let us know how you're using these tools and if they're saving you time
